foo_browser allows you to browse your library using columns ui panels. Each panel can be configured for any tag and header you wish, but initially is set up for Genre, Artist, Album, Title and Title with Tracknumber. It also creates a Playlist named "*Browser*" which displays browser selection contents. foo_browser also adds "Browse" to context menu which will populate all the panels from your selections.

I no longer use foo_browser, and as such no longer actively develop this plugin. If you are a developer and would like to take over this component, please email me.

Known Bugs

  • Sorting may not work correctly when using sorting field other than '*'
  • A few kinks in %<tag%> formatting
  • [All] column not properly aligned when right justifying or centering columns
  • columns do not quite fully use all the panel space

Feature Requests

  • Filter boxes
  • Options to turn off show selection always
  • Line height option
  • AND functionality for multiple selections
  • multiple values per track (e.g. Beatles|The Beatles goes under both Beatles and The Beatles)
  • Modifiable selection action (& add Send to browser playlist in context menu)
  • TAGS in header (and %_itemcount%, etc)
  • multiple columns (i.e. album and time)
  • Remember last selections (This is more complicated than it sounds)
  • update only visible browser panels (such as when using foo_uie_tabs)
  • global setting to ignore "The" and "a" when sorting
  • automatically browse the currently activated playlist (and change content when playlist changes)
  • option to disable playlist population when clicking on [All]

Unlikely

  • Make browser use the fancy stuff from track_info_mod
